Race Information

2018 Race Information

Grand Targhee Resort.  The race headquarters, check in, and start finish will be on the Hamster Loop nordic trail.  Go to the lower parking lot at Grand Targhee and the Hamster Loop is just west of the groomer shop.  Parking in the lower lot will put you very close to the race site.

Registration and Packet Pick Up
Race packet pickup 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday night before the race at Streubel Physical Therapy (285 East Little Ave) in Driggs, and from 8:00 – 9:45 AM at the race start on race day. There is no race day registration.

The post-race lunch will begin at 11:30 AM. Awards will begin at 12:30 PM.

14 and 24 km Course Description:
14 and 24 km race will ski the Hamster Loop clockwise and then ski out to Ricks Basin.   You will pass the first aid station at about 2. 5 kms.  After passing the aid station you will descend into Ricks Basin and then climb up Quakie counter clockwise.  The second aid station is at the top of Quakie just before the long down hill.  After descending off from Quakie you will ski on the upper portion of Rick Basin and up onto Snow Drift loop.  You will ski Snow Drift counter clockwise and back to the lap junction where the 1st aid station is.  24 km racers will do another lap starting from the 1st Aid Station.  The 14.5 km will pass the aid station and ski back to the finish on the Nordic Connector trail that they skied up to begin the race.  The finish will take you only briefly onto the Hamster Loop and then immediately turn back up a short climb to the start finish line.  Please familiarize yourself to the start finish area before the race.

General Overview: The 14 km races was GPS to 14.4 km with 870’ of climbing.  This will be a very challenging course from the perspective of the amount of climbing and racing at 8000’.
The 24 km race was GPS at 24 km with 1450’ of climbing.  This course will also be quite challenging from the perspective of some steep climbs and racing at 8000’

6 km Course Description:
The 6 km race will start in the stadium area and ski directly onto the Nordic Connector trail.  They will not ski the Hamster Loop.  The course will continue to the 1st aid station and drop down to the Snow Drift cut off junction and take a left turn onto Snow Drift.  This left turn will be signed.  The route continues up and around Snow Drift and back to the 1st Aid Station.  They will then return to the finish via the Nordic Connector trail.
The 6 km course was GPS at 6.4 km and 390’ of climbing.

2 km Course Description:
The 2 km race will start at the same start finish line as the 14 and 24 km racers.  The course will involve skiing the Hamster Loop twice and then finishing back in the stadium at the start finish line.
